What to Bring to Your Lesson
Pianists will need to have an instrument at home. An electronic keyboard is not enough. The best choice is a fully functioning upright or grand piano. The minimum requirement is a DIGITAL piano with 88 WEIGHTED KEYS and the option to change from light, to medium, to hard weight. For more information contact your teacher.

TAYLOR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
1. Daly Family Scholarship
In honour of performer and teacher Eileen Arnold Daly (1920-2008) funds have been donated to Taylor by family members to assist with the education of students, specifically piano students.
2. Taylor Conservatory Student Scholarships
Money raised by faculty performances and odd fund raisers will be pooled and divided between studio teachers for annual awards for their best students. These students will also perform in the Scholarship Recital to be held in June of each year. Each student chosen to perform will receive a $75 cash award and certificate.
3. Madeline Pape Memorial Scholarship
This annual scholarship of $500 was awarded for the first time at our 6th Annual Scholarship Recital. Flute student Audrey Butler was our first winner! She studied with Dorie Gold at the Conservatory of Music at Taylor. The judges for our second competition in June 2017 had a more difficult time choosing a winner. Pianist Beatrice Lim (student of Andrew Sims) was awarded $300 and pianist Nikolai Nyagolov (student of Dr. Kyurkchieva) was awarded $200. Judges Sarah Ho, Aaron Au and Petar Dunjerski also wished to award two honourable mentions to guitarist Cole van Velzen (student of Tyson Oatway) and pianist Demi Alba (student of Dr. Kyurchieva). The scholarship is generously endowed by Fred Pape in honour of his late wife Madeline who taught music and singing in the public schools.
Other scholarships will arise as we continue to grow and develop. Stay tuned to see how we do with supporting our students!
